RILLE is a conceptual fashion project rooted in nature, flow, and transformation. The name draws from

“He Liu 河流 “ the Chinese word for river.

A poetic convergence of both our surnames and a symbol of continuity, movement, and life force. Inspired by river rills, veins, roots, and the quiet structures of the earth, the collection explores silhouettes shaped by natural flow rather than rigid construction.

Patterns intentionally break from convention: side seams are asymmetric, sleeves follow nontraditional paths, and each garment rejects standardized tailoring logic.

RILLE

As Creative Director, I shaped the conceptual narrative and visual language, while Ciara, as Fashion Designer, translated these ideas into form. Together, we created a collection that reflects on how nature is often neglected in urban life and how learning to let go, adapt, and move with the current is not only instinctive, but necessary.

Concept to Execution

RILLE was born in stillness. Created during the height of COVID by myself and Ciara Liu, both raised in Hong Kong and later shaped by our studies in New York. The project emerged at a time when physical movement was restricted, yet introspection deepened. Confined indoors, we turned to drawing, observing, and storytelling, translating our shared histories and emotions into form.

What began as sketches between two women evolved into a fully realized fashion capsule, designed and sewn entirely by hand over the course of two months. The collection later came to life through a collaboration with a Hong Kong–based photographer and was featured across multiple publications, including Media Sicky Magazine.
